Why there is no need for search anymore?
Earlier, search was largely inclined toward keywords. People used keywords as hints to search engines to get expected answers. Search engines treated these keywords as signals to fetch information by matching them with available content.
Even when someone asked a question that seemed long-tail, systems often struggled to process it effectively.
But now, with AI, systems are able to comprehend lengthy, intent-driven questions and provide direct answers.
So people are not just searching anymore – they are asking directly.
How systems are giving answers instead of information?
It depends on what the system is designed for in the first place.
For example, models like ChatGPT are trained on large amounts of data beforehand. Because of this, they already have information in a learned form, which allows them to generate answers instantly without needing to wait.
On the other hand, Google Search works a bit differently. While it also uses generative AI, it pulls information from indexed web pages and then summarizes it.
Instead of relying on just one source, it gathers information from multiple sources to present a more balanced answer.
In simple words, these systems already have access to a vast amount of information – either through training data (in some cases) or through web indexing (in others). This makes it easier for them to extract and present direct answers instead of just listing information.
Are these answers reliable?
These answers are generally reliable when supported by credible citations and trusted sources.
