Is Technical SEO a Must Have Skill for a Writer?

As a writer, should i learn technical seo as well.

I m a writer. I take care of publishing blogs. Do I need to learn technical SEO as well?

There is no perfect answer to this question.

But let’s simplify the question with an example.

Let’s say you want to learn car driving.

Would you mind knowing a little about the technical side of it?

The basic mechanical things – what to do when your car is in trouble?

Is technical seo mandatory for a seo writer?

If the answer is no, it simply means you will call a mechanic and have them fix it anyway.

If the answer is yes, then whether you call a mechanic or not, but you will always carry a tool kit in your car.

You are always prepared. That’s the difference.

Whether you fix the problem yourself or seek the assistance of a mechanic, you know where to pay attention and how to get the things done.

Now let’s get back to the original question.

Does SEO writer needs to know the Technical SEO part?

It depends on the type of project, its scale, and team structure.

If you get to work on large projects with big teams, you don’t need to handle technical SEO implementation yourself. Because there will be a dedicated team which takes care of technical issues.

In smaller and simpler projects, there is usually no separate technical SEO team due to budget or resource constraints. This is where you are expected to handle technical SEO along with other SEO tasks.

In other situations, you might work fully on custom made websites. Here instead of fixing issues directly, you guide the developer and get them resolved, because it involves coding. Your technical SEO knowledge becomes helpful here in guiding the developer.

Conclusion

It is not mandatory for a writer to have technical SEO knowledge. However, it is definitely a strong advantage.

More pages – more likely many technical issues (crawling, indexing, speed, mobile optimization, fixing broken links and duplicate pages)
