What is Google Gemini AI?
Gemini is the updated name of Google’s large language model (LLM). Earlier they called it as Google Bard.
Just like OpenAI has its own LLM called ChatGPT, Google also has its LLM called – Gemini AI.
Gemini AI is developed by Deep mind which is a subsidiary company of Google.
Gemini is classified into three categories – Ultra, Pro and Nano.

Ultra is designed to handle highly complex tasks like coding, logical reasoning, deep learning, etc.
Pro is customized for wide range of tasks like generating text, image, audio, video etc.
Nano is exclusively designed for on devise tasks. Most likely for smartphones.
Is Google Gemini better than ChatGPT?
Both the models are built on Transformer architecture for NLP tasks.
Both the models are trained on huge data sets that are publicly available on the internet.
Usually an LLM’s knowledge and generative capability is limited only to its training data. The model has to be updated frequently to give relevant information.
But in this case, Google has an extra advantage over ChatGPT i.e. Google’s Index.
Google’s index is a huge repository that can store volumes of data available on the internet. The index contains millions of webpages across worldwide – old, new, and also the updated one’s.
So Gemini AI do not just depend on its training but also is backed by Google’s Index. Because, Gemini is Google’s product, and Google is a No 1 search engine in the world.
Early achievements of Gemini AI
During the testing period, Gemini has out performed humans by 90% in 57 different subjects.

One of the mile stones that Gemini achieved is to read 200,000 pages of scientific literature on genetics and generated case studies in a very less time which usually is a time consuming for researchers to do it manually.

Gemini’s multi-modal capabilities can process – images, text, pdf, audio, etc.
